The dsm-firmenich Running Team has confirmed a world-class line-up for the TCS New York City Marathon on November 1 featuring Abdi Nageeye, Geoffrey Kamworor and Mohamed Esa. Nageeye will return to New York looking to recapture the magic of his memorable victory in 2024.
The Olympic marathon silver medallist produced a brilliant tactical performance that year to become the first Dutch athlete to win the TCS New York City Marathon, crossing the line in 2:07:39. He has since lowered his Dutch marathon record to 2:04:20, set when finishing fourth at the 2025 TCS London Marathon.

New York holds special significance for Nageeye, who will be eager to challenge once again on the demanding five-borough course.
“New York is different,” Nageeye said. “I’ve raced there every year since 2021, and winning in 2024 was out of this world. Once you’ve experienced what it feels like to win there, you just want to do it again. I’m really excited to return.”
Joining him on the start line will be two-time TCS New York City Marathon champion Geoffrey Kamworor. The Kenyan has a remarkable history with the race, claiming victory in 2017 and 2019, and has consistently demonstrated his ability to perform at the highest level in championship-style marathons.
Kamworor also lined up alongside Nageeye in New York in 2024, finishing fifth, before going on to win the 2025 NN Marathon Rotterdam. With a marathon personal best of 2:04:23 and extensive experience on the New York course, he will return as one of the most accomplished athletes in the field.
“New York is like a love story for me,” Kamworor said. “I’ve won there twice and finished on the podium four times and every time it has been special. It’s always an incredible experience to run the biggest marathon in the world and I’m really looking forward to feeling the energy of the crowds again.”
Completing the dsm-firmenich Running Team trio is Ethiopia’s Mohamed Esa, who will make his TCS New York City Marathon debut.

The 25-year-old has already established himself as one of the most consistent marathoners of his generation. A three-time Abbott World Marathon Majors podium finisher, Esa added another significant achievement to his résumé earlier this year, claiming his first marathon victory at the 2026 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon. He produced a course-record 2:04:55 to take the win, underlining his growing credentials at the highest level.
“I can’t wait to finally race in New York,” Esa said. “I’ve finished second in Tokyo, Boston and Chicago. And after winning in Cape Town this year, I’m excited to see what I can do in the Big Apple.”
With a former champion in Nageeye, a two-time winner in Kamworor and one of the sport’s leading young marathoners in Esa, the dsm-firmenich Running Team will arrive in New York with a formidable trio ready to challenge on one of the world’s most iconic marathon courses.
