Jordan Guenther - the internet’s favorite "wild mzungu" who carries the heart of a Kalenjin in an American passport - has gone viral once again after crashing the Closing Ceremony of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games in full Kenyan style on Sunday night.
Sporting an official, flawlessly tailored Team Kenya suit, the self-funded athletics superfan took to Facebook to declare Kenya “the capital of Africa” and deliver a patriotic wrap-up that has the Kenyan internet shouting "Give this man a passport already!"
For over 15 years, Jordan Guenther has been funding his own global track-and-field trips just to shout himself hoarse for Kenyan runners. But Sunday night in Glasgow, he took his superfan status to an executive level.
Standing alongside the nation's elite athletes, Guenther looked less like a spectator from the "boring yues" (USA) and more like a high-ranking delegation official or a veteran coach who happens to have skipped the sunscreen.
The highlight of his night wasn't just wearing the iconic red, green, and black apparel — it was a passing of the torch moment with Kenya's newest running sensation. Guenther's post showered praise on 21-year-old middle-distance prodigy Rosemary Longisa, who earned the distinct honor of carrying the Kenyan flag during the closing spectacle.

Longisa has been on an absolute tear, transitioning from her spectacular June victory as the NCAA Outdoor National Champion in the 1,500m to proving her mettle on the global stage in Glasgow.
"Great things happen to great people," Guenther wrote, perfectly encapsulating the mood of a proud "fb pamily" watching a young champion carry the weight of a nation. With her work ethic on and off the track, Guenther reassured his followers that the future of Kenyan athletics remains in the safest, fastest possible hands.
To round out his viral sign-off, the "Kalenjin-souled" American provided a definitive breakdown of Team Kenya’s spectacular athletics campaign, which saw Kenyan athletes completely dominate the track and field events:
- Edmund Serem set the track ablaze to capture a brilliant Gold Medal in the Men’s 3,000m Steeplechase;
- Mathew Kipchumba Kipsang showed incredible tactical intelligence to secure Gold in the Men’s 5,000m;
- Faith Cherotich proved unmatched in her discipline, cruising to a well-deserved Gold Medal in the Women’s 3,000m Steeplechase;
- Stephen Ndangiri Kihu demonstrated elite endurance and technique to claim a hard-fought Silver Medal in the Men’s 10,000m Race Walk;
- Simon Kiprop Koech added to Kenya's steeplechase legacy by securing the Silver Medal in the Men’s 3,000m Steeplechase;
- Diana Wanza put on a masterclass in long-distance running to bring home a Silver Medal in the Women’s 10,000m;
- Lilian Odira showcased an explosive kick on the home straight to win the Silver Medal in the Women’s 800m;
- Leonard Kipkemoi Bett fought fiercely through the barriers to round out a superb podium presence with a Bronze Medal in the Men’s 3,000m Steeplechase;
- Wycliffe Kinyamal used his veteran experience to power through a stacked field for a Bronze Medal in the Men’s 800m;
- Timothy Cheruiyot displayed his signature grit and world-class class to claim the Bronze Medal in the Men’s One Mile;
- Irene Jepkemboi broke barriers in the field events, launching an incredible throw to capture the Bronze Medal in the Women’s Javelin Throw;
(Meanwhile, Kenya had another medal outside the track: A bronze in the weightlifting competition, courtesy of 20-year-old Joshua Amunga Mboya in the men’s 60kg category).
